Overview

In third year I was put into a group and we were given a project to make a peer to peer website.

The aim of the project was to help farmers sell excess stock to people around Britain, for them to easily upload information about the produce, sell all or part of it, companies to offer pricing on transporting it and to track the food.

Key features

I was in charge of coding the front end. The design looked amazing but was difficult to code. It took a long time but the end result was great. At the same time I had to work with other sections within the team and co-ordinate everything. I felt that the project would be easier to visualise with a good front end so I made sure I was ahead of everyone else so the project ran smoothly.

Learnings

I really enjoyed working as part of a team and was able to do everything that was asked of me. The end result was great and the client was extremely pleased.

While it was great when I managed to code all the different intracacies I should have simplified the design slightly and made my life easier. One member of the team was not great at communicating, going to meetings and was generally behind schedule. I should have done more to make him feel valued and will do so from now on.

Challenges

Working as a team, I really enjoyed the experience and was lucky to have a really good team but I felt I had to work really hard to make sure I did not let everyone else down.
