When Harry was a baby, his parents were murdered by the dark wizard Lord Voldemort. When Voldemort tried to kill Harry the curse rebounded upon him, leaving Harry with a lightning-shaped scar on his forehead and Voldemort gone. This made Harry a symbol of hope in the wizarding world and earned him the nickname "The Boy Who Lived."
Raised by his neglectful Aunt and Uncle, Harry grew up unaware of his magical past. He lived in a cupboard under the stairs and was horribly treated until his eleventh birthday, when he received a letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
During his first year at Hogwarts Harry learned about the Philosopher's Stone, a magical object that grants immortality, and soon realized that someone was trying to steal it. Harry suspects Professor Snape and after many adventures Harry, along with Ron and Hermione, is about to try and prevent Snape from obtaining the Stone, unaware of the true nature of the threat that lay ahead. This pivotal moment set the stage for Harry's ongoing battle against dark forces in the wizarding world.
